Project Overview

NESTOR aims to improve research and innovation performance in reproductive medicine by boosting collaboration between academia and industry across Widening and non-Widening countries through structured secondments and targeted training.

The project focuses on personalised reproductive medicine solutions and novel assisted reproductive technologies (ART), including non-invasive IVF embryo selection, uterine health studies, and novel non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) technologies—supporting responsible innovation, data governance and sustainable exploitation.

Objectives

Boost talent & mobility

Implement structured secondments and monitoring to strengthen human capital and skills in reproductive medicine.

Translate R&I to practice

Advance and validate data-driven and non-invasive technologies for IVF/NIPT and reproductive health.

Build a sustainable cluster

Develop entrepreneurial, regulatory and transferable skills; amplify impact via dissemination and exploitation.

Work Plan & VELTION Contribution

WP2 – Intersectoral mobility for impactful tools

Secondments and joint R&I in personalised medicine, ART and NIPT, including data sharing, algorithm training and computational tool development.

WP4 – Skills & sustainability

Entrepreneurial and industry-desired skills, with emphasis on responsible innovation, IP, and routes to adoption in clinical workflows.

VELTION Tasks (NTUA)

  • Data structures & computational workflows to support AI/ML in reproductive technologies.
  • Algorithm development support (pattern recognition / image analytics) and reproducible evaluation pipelines.
  • Interoperability and integration of data infrastructures; FAIR-aligned practices.
